What's new in Seben

Features and fixes for the web and desktop apps, newest first.

Desktop updates install with one click

  • The desktop app downloads updates in the background, then offers Relaunch to update. Click it and Seben restarts on the new version in a few seconds.
  • Check for Updates… is in the Seben menu on Mac and the File menu on Windows. It tells you when you're already up to date, and turns into Restart to Update once a new version is ready.
  • Also in the menus: Settings… (⌘, or Ctrl+,) and Open PDF… (⌘O or Ctrl+O).

The Windows app is signed

  • The Seben Windows installer and app are now signed by Aqili, Inc. Windows shows Aqili, Inc. as the publisher.
  • SmartScreen may still ask you to confirm while the new signature builds reputation. Choose More info → Run anyway.

The desktop app now matches the web app

  • Sign in to the desktop app with email or your Microsoft work account. Sign-in finishes in your browser, then brings you back to Seben.
  • The desktop app remembers your theme, workspace and other settings between launches.
  • Upgrade, Manage billing and outside links open in your browser. Connecting an app runs its sign-in in a Seben window. Apps whose sign-in uses Google have to be connected on the web, and then appear on the desktop too.
  • The desktop app now carries the Seben icon.

The Mac app is signed and notarized

  • The Seben Mac app is now signed by Aqili, Inc. and notarized by Apple, so it opens without the right-click workaround. One download runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
  • The Windows installer is not yet code-signed; if SmartScreen warns you, choose More info → Run anyway.

Pull data out of documents, and take it to Word or Excel

  • Extraction: define the fields you care about once, run them across many documents, and get a table back. Every value shows the page and the sentence it came from, so you can check it without reopening the file. A field that isn't there says so instead of guessing.
  • Export to Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx). Layout is inferred from the page, so the export tells you what it found and names any page it couldn't resolve — worth a look before you send it on.
  • Excel carries the tables it detected. A document without tables says so rather than handing you an empty workbook.
  • Corrections you make to an extracted value are kept alongside what the model originally said, so you can see where it tends to be wrong.

Digital signatures and password protection

  • File → Digitally sign puts a real cryptographic signature on a document using your workspace certificate, added under Settings → Signing. Other PDF readers verify it.
  • File → Signatures reports every signature a document carries, including ones it arrived with: whether it's intact, whether the issuer is trusted, and whether it covers the whole file or only an earlier draft.
  • A signed document stops accepting edits — even rotating a page would break the signature. Remove signatures when you deliberately want to edit again.
  • Protect a document with a password. The password is applied when the file is downloaded and is never stored anywhere we can read it back.

Connect your other tools, and let them reach your documents

  • Settings → Integrations connects external tools to the agent — Notion, Granola, Zapier, GitHub, or any MCP server. Notion and Granola connect by signing in.
  • Every call the agent makes to a connected app asks your approval first and shows exactly what it's about to send.
  • Workspace API keys let tools you trust — Claude Desktop among them — read and edit documents in this workspace. Destructive actions still require approval inside Seben.

Headers, footers, watermarks and Bates numbering

  • File → Headers & footers adds page numbers, dates, and running text, with {page}, {total} and {date} filled in for you.
  • Watermarks with your own text, angle and opacity.
  • Bates numbering with a prefix, a starting number and a digit width — the sequential stamping used for discovery and case files.

Welcome to Seben

  • Edit, redact, sign, and reorganize PDFs with an agent that shows every step and asks before destructive actions.
  • Search (Ctrl/Cmd+F), print, outlines, forms, signatures, stamps, merge/split, and region redaction.
  • Desktop apps for Mac and Windows with the same documents as the web — download from your account menu.
  • Every change is a version — you can always undo.
